Bounty hunters – not to be messed with!

By Steven Jones

When someone skips out on their bail, it's safe to assume that the person thinks they can get away with simply running away from the area they were arrested in and try to avoid going to court. It's unlikely they're just looking to go on a quick holiday before returning to the area when they are summoned to court. It is for this reason that bail bond agencies will immediately put into action various different plans to ensure that safe return of the defendant so they don't end up having to pay the full amount of the bail. The primary way they do this is by hiring a bounty hunter, who will track that person down and bring them to justice. Bounty hunters are hardened criminal catchers, often preferring to be known as being in the “fugitive recovery” business.

If you've ever seen an episode of Dog the bounty hunter, you'll know not to mess with a bounty hunter. Although that program is somewhat unrealistic and dramatized, bounty hunters can be fierce and definitely aren't the kind of people you want to be messing around with. If you're running away from your bail area, you're going to need to run fast because these people will catch up to you incredibly quickly. A good bounty hunter will have contacts all around and will be able to find you no matter how well you think you are hiding. They will also be incredibly tough, and not the kind of guys you want to be getting into a fight with, so don't think you can overpower them when they do catch up with you.

Think about it for a second, bounty hunters are hire specifically for their ability to catch the criminal and bring them home. They are not hired for any other reason but to do this, and all that matters is their success, not their methods. Trying to outsmart a bounty hunter is inadvisable, and you really need to know what you're doing if you think you can hide away for a while. Don't mess with a bounty hunter, because you'll almost certainly end up regretting it.
